About the Author: Cathy Christensen

I was born in Long Island, New York in 1946. I grew up in New England where I attended nun's schools and studied poetry long before I wrote it. My family consists of my husband Glen and my son, David, who also loves and writes poetry.

Poems have given me a way to express feelings to deep to contain. They explode within me. They fight for expression. Sometimes it is a long journey to express a sentiment related to a crisis or experience I've gone through and sometimes it is like gently falling snow that must be captured with the pen before its beauty melts ways.

I have found Jesus to be the master of metaphor and John and David, poets all. The Book is filled with rhyme. And I am truly His when I am writing to glorify God and express the beautiful humanity of man in all it's fragility, laughter, and tears.

I said the sinners prayer many years ago but I was born again on February 16, 1999 at 8:30. I acknowledged that He gave His all for me 2000 years ago on the hill of Calvary. But it was not until this year that I gave my all to Him. He gave the gift but the recesses of my heart could not receive it because deep within there was doubt and sin. I have been so happy since I' ve given my life to Him.

I love to cook for others and I use a big crock pot at work and make enough food to serve 30 or I just put out peanut butter and jelly with a big sign that says Help Yourself. I believe in showing love and sowing the word. Poetry is one of the ways I do it. I am His poet and I thank Him for the gift.
